Woman bitten by a shark in Cocoa Beach, Florida

A shark bite has been reported in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Fox 31 Denver

Jill Kruse decided to head straight to the beach after arriving in the area from Colorado November 1.

The 28-year-old was wading in waist-deep water for about 10-minutes when a shark grabbed her on the right calf.

She punched the shark which slapped her in the face with it’s fin before releasing it’s grip leaving a terrible wound.

Other beach goers and family members assisted the badly injured Kruse out of the water.

She was taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center where her wound is considered serious and doctors are determining what type of surgery she needs. She has already received stitches to her hand that was injured while punching the shark.

A gofundme page is up to help with medical bills.

This is the fourth confirmed bite of 2015 in Cocoa Beach.  A fifth was reported, but not confirmed.

Due to the severity of the injury, it is very possible the shark involved may have been a bull shark.

The location has been marked on the 2015 shark attack bites tracking map.
